The Javier La Fianza Memorial Educational Assistance Fund

The activities of The Foundation are funded in part by proceeds from online auctions of hotel room night gift certificates. We suggest each hotel donate at least two (2) One-night certificates and two (2) Two-night certificates for each online auction.  We encourage including amenities such as breakfast, dinner, valet or self-parking, resort fees, etc.

Javier LaFianza was a kind and generous person who devoted his career to helping people establish and operate non-profit foundations. When we decided to found a non- profit foundation of our own, we met with Javier and he introduced us to the world of philanthropy. Javier was our first advisor and outlined for us the steps we would need to undertake to become a 501(c)(3) organization which is defined under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is recognized as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization.

Our stated purpose is:

"To engage in charitable and educational related activities to benefit the hospitality industry workforce and their families."

Sadly, just as we were starting to put our foundation together, Javier passed away very expectedly. In a tribute to Javier, and with the involvement of one of his close friends, we established the Javier LaFianza Memorial Assistance Fund as part of The Bowman
Post Group Foundation. By the end of 2024 we raised over $8,000 for the fund. Money from the fund is used to provide financial assistance for hotel employees and their families with education-related expenses. Cash donations to our foundation become
part of this fund unless requested otherwise. The goal is for The Javier Memorial Education Assistance Fund to carry on, in part, the good work done by Javier during his lifetime.
